Water truck collides with dump truck in Fayette

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a two vehicle motor vehicle accident at the intersection of State Route 96 and Yellow Tavern Road in the Town of Fayette. Sheriff’s Deputies report Eugene D. Poormon, age 72, of 3632 Yost Road Waterloo, New York was operating a dump truck, westbound when he pulled into the path of a water truck that was headed southbound on State Route 96.The water truck operated by Edward D. Minns, age 43, of 6 Park Street Phelps, New York overturned sliding down State Route 96 before coming to rest in a ditch. Minns was assisted out of the truck and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by North Seneca Ambulance with head lacerations. Poormon was not injured.Both trucks were heavily damaged and had to be towed from the scene. Poormon was issued traffic tickets for Failure to Yield the Right of Way and No US DOT Number and Carrier Name. New York State Police, Fayette and Varick Fire Departments were also on scene.
