Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two car fatal motor vehicle accident which occurred at approximately 11:40am on Sunday at the intersection of Baldwin Rd. and NYS Rt. 176 in the Town of Ira.Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2004 Dodge passenger vehicle making a left turn onto Rt. 176 from Baldwin Rd. pulled into the path of a northbound 1997 Chevrolet passenger vehicle. The operator of the 1997 Chevrolet, an elderly man from Canada, has been pronounced dead at Auburn Memorial Hospital. The 2004 Chevrolet was occupied by an adult female along with her 8 year old and infant sons. All were transported to University Hospital and are being treated at this time.The investigation is continuing and no names are being released at this time pending family notifications.
