On Tuesday March 17th, 2011 at approx. 11:56 Seneca Falls Police arrested Robert L. McDermott, age 59 from 22 VanCleef Street Seneca Falls, NY and Karen J. Bost age, 49 from 103 State Street Seneca Falls, NY following a traffic stop on State Street after the vehicle McDermott was operating passed a red light. During the traffic stop it was learned that McDermott was operating his motor vehicle in an intoxicated condition. A further Department of Motor Vehicle check of McDermott’s license showed two prior Driving While Intoxicated convictions. McDermott was previously convicted on May 22nd, 2002 for Driving While Ability Impaired out of the Town Of Waterloo Court and on July 16th, 2004 for Driving a Motor Vehicle while having a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater.During the investigation the passenger inside McDermott’s vehicle, Karen J. Bost pushed an Officer in the chest, intervened in the investigation and failed to comply with an Officers orders.Bost was then arrested for Harassment in the 2nd degree and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd degree. McDermott was arrested at the scene and transported back to the Seneca Falls Police Department where a breath test showed McDermott’s blood alcohol content to be .14%. McDermott was charged with passing a red light; Felony Driving While Intoxicated and Felony operating a Motor Vehicle while having a BAC greater than .08%. McDermott’s vehicle was impounded from the scene. Both McDermott and Bost were arraigned in the Seneca Falls Town Court in front of Judge Mahoney. During the arraignment Judge Mahoney revoked McDermott’s driving privileges. McDermott was released to a third party and is scheduled to reappear in Seneca Falls Court on May 25th, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Bost was committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $1,000.00 cash or $2,000.00 Ins. Bond. Bost is scheduled to re-appear in Seneca Falls Town Court on May 18th, 2011 at 3:00 PM due to Bost’s intoxicatedcondition.
