Steuben County Sheriffs investigated a two vehicle hit-and-run accident after 5:00 pm on County Route 10 in the Town of Bath.A 1990 Honda car was heading south on County Route 10 near Turnpike Road by Michael T. Smith, age 20, of Bath. Mr. Smith reported that his vehicle was struck from behind and the other vehicle did not stop.The Investigation revealed that the second vehicle a 2000 Jeep Cherokee was operated by Matthew L. Eggleston, age 22, of Bath.Mr. Smith was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree and is to appear in Bath Town court. Mr. Eggleston was charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident and following too closely and is to appear in Bath Town Court also.
