Wayne County is proud to be one of many counties represented with deployed volunteers throughout the United States. Over the past two weeks, five volunteers from various Wayne County towns and villages have departed to the storm ravaged south and flooded eastern New York to assist those affected.“The Red Cross is quick to respond to disasters and ensure those affected have a warm, dry place to stay and food on their plates,” said Jim Love, Executive Director of the Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross. “We in Wayne County are proud to help in any way that we can.The following individuals from Wayne County are currently deployed: * Larry Gonyou, of Lyons, is currently in Tennessee. He is functioning as a Logistical Provisions Supervisor. * Robert Barton of Savannah; William Boyd of Walworth; and James Davis of Newark are deployed to Mississippi to act as Sheltering Service Associates. * Laura Dean, of North Rose, has deployed to eastern New York State to assist with the flooding there. She will be stationed in Plattsburgh as a Sheltering Service Associate. Throughout the Finger Lakes Region of the Red Cross, 28 individuals have been deployed within the last month.
