Seneca County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a missing eleven year old female in the Village of Ovid NY. The child had been missing since about 2:30 PM. There was also a possibility of a medical problem involved. A command post was established at the Ovid Fire Department. Ovid fire personnel responded to assist with a large area search. School staff from South Seneca School responded to the command post and offered valuable support to Investigators.Search parties were organized and dozens of leads were investigated. The Sheriff’s Office was also assisted with the search and follow up’s on leads by the following agencies: New York State Police, New York State Park Police, New York State Environmental Conservation Officers, U.S. Forest Service Rangers, Interlaken P.D., South Seneca Ambulance, Lodi Fire Department and Interlaken Fire Department.Officers located the child at 8:44 PM in the Village of Ovid. She was unharmed and at the time of this release is being interviewed by a Sheriff’s Department Youth Officer. The Investigation into the child’s disappearance is continuing….
