The weekend before Memorial Day can mean only one thing: It’s time for the annual Rotary Plant Sale. Waterloo Rotary members will host their 29th annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 21 and 22, at Cottrell’s Greenhouse, Route 96.“This is a wonderful opportunity to buy beautiful hanging baskets and robust geraniums to liven up your home for summer entertaining,” said plant sale co-chair Patsy Amidon. “Or select a wide variety of vegetable plants to fill your garden,” added co-chair Jim Hughes.Cottrell’s also can fill Memorial Day urns and window boxes, or people can choose from scores of seed packets and plant their own flowers and vegetables.Pick up a free ticket at Nugent’s Hardware or from any Rotarian for an opportunity to win a door prize of a free hanging basket.All proceeds from Rotary’s annual plant sale benefit Rotary’s community service projects and Camp Onseyawa.
