The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce is offering a six (6) hour New York State Defensive Driving Course (DDC).DDC will be held on April 13 and 14, 2011 from 6pm to 9pm, May 7, 2011 from 9am to 3:30pm, and June 1 and 2, 2011 from 6pm to 9pm. The course will be held at the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce, 35 Lakefront Drive, Geneva, NY 14456, in the Community Room on the lower level of the building.DDC is a comprehensive driver improvement program with a basic 6-hour curriculum offering practical knowledge and techniques to avoid crashes, and to choose safe, responsible and lawful driving behaviors. After completing the course, you will receive a National Safety Council DDC Certificate of Completion which, depending on the situation, may make you eligible for point or insurance reduction but is not guaranteed. DDC may allow you to receive up to a four (4) point reduction on your driving record with the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles. You can receive up to a 10% discount on your vehicle collision and liability insurance premiums each year for three years. This discount applies to the base rate of your automobile and motorcycle insurance premiums providing you are listed as the principal operator.The cost of the course is $35.00 and you must preregister and prepay. Check, cash, money order and credit card are accepted; no refunds are given. All classes must be completed within six months of application. The Safety Council reserves the right to cancel any class.
