Prolific singer-songwriter Chris Nathan has been touring the country of late with “American Idol” finalist Kris Allen. But the Buffalo native relishes his roots and the opportunity to perform for his fans in the region. On Saturday, April 16, at 2:30 p.m., Nathan will not only do that when he headlines the Inaugural “The Big Fein Daddy” Benefit Concert at Hobart & William Smith Colleges, but he will do so for a critically essential cause: the thousands of sick and needy children without health insurance who receive care and services through Geneva General Hospital in Geneva, NY. The hospital is the Finger Lakes Health healthcare system. As an added highlight to the concert, music director, producer, and keyboard player Michael Mancini, who backs such music legends as Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Southside Johnny, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel and Paul McCartney, will combine the Soul/Rock sounds of the Chris Nathan Band with a little touch of Jersey by featuring the “Fein Daddy Horns.” The group comprises members of the horn section from Southside Johnny, Springsteen, and Bon Jovi and is led by Tommy Labella. The concert is named in memory of Hobart lacrosse legend Jon Feinstein and sponsored by the memorial fund established in his honor by his friends, family, and teammates. Twenty-four years ago, Feinstein, who captained the 1980 National Champion Lacrosse Team at the Colleges of the Seneca, died at the age of 27 of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.Tickets to the April 16 concert are $5 at the door.
