Seneca County Accident Reports Now Online

Seneca County Sheriff Jack Stenberg announced today that motor vehicle accident reports filed by the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office are now available online directly from a link at the Sheriff’s website – http://sheriff.co.seneca.ny.us.The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office recently signed an agreement with PoliceReports.us which allows citizens to download a copy of their accident report online. “No matter whether they live in the area or were just traveling through our County when they were involved in a crash, getting a copy of an accident report can often be just one more stressful moment that most people would just as soon live without,” Seneca County Sheriff Jack Stenberg said.“Technology allows people to access a great deal of data much more conveniently than in the past. One of those areas that takes time and is an inconvenience is retrieving a copy of an accident report. Equally important is the time spent by our Records Division clerks assisting the public in processing requests from motorists and insurance companies in obtaining accident reports. The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office has addressed these issues by contracting with PoliceReports.US to allow citizens Internet access to most accident reports without making a trip to the Sheriff’s Office or mailing in a request for one”, said Sheriff Stenberg. Motorists and insurance companies can download and print a copy of their accident report 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from the comfort of their home or business using a secure online portal.The Sheriff said that there is still a waiting period before an accident report may be available depending on a Deputies ability to obtain all information needed to properly complete an accident report. Once a Deputy files an approved accident report, that information may be available online within hours.Accident reports can be purchased on line for $5.00 using most major credit cards. Copies of accident reports are still available at the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, 6150 State Route 96, Romulus, New York for those without internet access.The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office went live with this new system on March 1, 2011. To get a copy of accident reports online, customers need to go to http://sheriff.co.seneca.ny.us and click on Police Reports.US logo.Customers are able to search for a report, view it, and print it in the convenience of their home, office or cell phone. Customers may also contact PoliceReports.US at 1-800-489-0190 to set up a prepaid account.
