Adopt-A-Spot in Auburn

The Auburn Beautification Commission (ABC) is now providing an opportunity for local businesses and individuals to plant flowers, foliage and landscaping on city-owned locations in an effort to beautify the City of Auburn. The Adopt-A Spot program was created to partner with the community and engage civic participation to improve the overall look/ appeal and ensure regular maintenance of city owned “spots”. ABC will coordinate these efforts with the interested participants, the City of Auburn and the Commission. The sponsoring business or individual will be identified by signage at the site provided by ABC and receive a mention on ABC’s website. The Adopt-A-Spot program was launched in the spring of 2010 with as a pilot program of ABC’s. Dickman Farms expressed interest in the program and staff members volunteered their time and efforts to improving the landscape around the gazebo located on South Street across from City Hall. The Cayuga County Drug and Alcohol Treatment Court also participated in the program last year by planting mums on Lincoln Hill. Both organizations are planning on participating in the program for 2011.With spring just around the corner, ABC is seeking out people and business in the community who would be interested in adopting a spot of their own.
