Under the Direction of a NYS Lions Band Director, students are assembled into a Youth Band to perform at the annual NYS Convention which represents 17,000 Lions from 570 clubs in New York and Bermuda. The hand-picked group is expected to be a Band of 80-100. This year, the event will be in Rochester on April 28 through May 1. The students are treated to an all-expense paid performing opportunity intermixed with optional local sports and youth social activities chaperoned by State Lions. Transportation to and from the convention is provided by the local Lions clubs who sponsor them with the help of some Education Foundations, and personal contributors. Students are recommended by the School Music Director and, schedule permitting, they receive music prior to the performance and are given golf shirt uniforms. This year the recommended students are: South Seneca: Jacob Perry , Shade Zajac, Felicia Woodward, Vivian and Cynthia Becker, Madeline Dreyer, Jonathan Jaramillo. Romulus CS: Meghan Doorty, Amber Parmelee, Sam Dickenson, Samantha and Amana Seils, Suzanne Jasikoff. Auburn CS: Karen Anne Oakley In addition, Lansing District and Trumansburg Lions are considering candidates.
