The 2011 Official Visitor’s Guide to Cayuga County is now available at the Cayuga County Office of Tourism. This comprehensive guide offers year-round information for visitors on things to do, places to stay, and annual events.Principal photography in the guide was done by Kristian S. Reynolds, a professional photograher working from Cortland and known for his coverage of the Finger Lakes Region. His work includes two coffee-table books, Finger Lakes Panoramas and Wine Tour of the Finger Lakes. Laura Coburn, principal and owner of the Auburn-based Coburn Design, designed the guide.The guide focuses on what visitors like most about Cayuga County – lakes, scenery, wineries and charming villages, as well as activities such as dining and shopping. Looking for a list of golf courses, day spas, hiking trails? The guide includes information on all these, plus much more.The guide also includes suggested itineraries such as the “Great American Family Vacation,” which highlights a getaway to northern Cayuga County that includes a step back in time at the Sterling Renaissance Festival, a picnic at Fair Haven Beach State Park, cookie tasting at Fly By Night Cookie Co. and much more.The guide also features traditional meeting and event facilities as well as alternative meeting space such as Auburn Public Theater, with the hope that visitors might think of Cayuga County when they plan their next business meeting or family reunion. From the historic Springside Inn, to the versatile Holiday Inn, to the cozy “Red Suspender Room” at Curley’s, Cayuga County has meeting and event space to suit every gathering.A sampling of annual events is listed in the guide with visitors being directed to the tourism website, www.tourcayuga.com, for more event information. From Bass Pro Shops’ Annual Ice Fishing Derby in February, to the Bon Ton Roulet bicycle tour in July, to Christmas in Aurora in December, Cayuga County visitors can find something to do, whatever the season.For wayfinding, detailed maps are included as well, as websites and phone numbers for additional information.
