The Seneca County Arts Council Annual Campaign is seeking members in support of local arts. The Annual Membership Appeal is in full swing and is adding members to join the co-operative gallery. Members are entitled to a reduced rate to join classes, juried shows and demonstrations. Members display artwork, teach classes, help staff the gallery or simply attend openings to the variety of shows planned by and for local/and regional artists. The gallery in downtown Seneca Falls is a place for tourists and locals to view and shop for original art, jewelry, and handcrafted items created by local residents.A membership provides support for the many art activities the council has planned for the upcoming year. The Arts Council offers classes in visual arts and writing throughout the year. Some of the offerings include: a Color Theory class, an Intermediate Watercolor class, a Value Drawing class, a Creative Crayons class, a Caricature workshop, a Pastel class; an April show featuring Abby Gazley and Gary Carlson, the Annual Juried show, a Transitions theme show, a Photo Show, a Paint Seneca County in Rainbow Colors show, and a winery fundraiser. This is the basic calendar. Other events, opportunities and classes will be added throughout the year.The Seneca County Arts Council provides annual scholarships to two Seneca County graduating high school seniors who plan to major at the college level in an accredited arts program. The scholarships may be applied to visual arts programs as well as programs for performance arts. The Seneca County Arts Council is a non-profit organization. Membership is easy to attain. Just choose a level of giving that is comfortable for you. Levels include: Seniors/Students $15; Individual $20; Family $35; Sponsor $50; and Benefactor $100.
