Seneca County Sheriff Jack Stenberg announced today that over the past few days Sheriff’s Investigators and Deputies conducted unannounced visits of all Level Two and Level Three sex offenders living in Seneca County. Sheriff’s Investigators and Deputies went to the reported address of each registered sex offender living in the County to verify the validity of their reported address and to check for compliance pursuant to the Seneca County law that prohibits sex offenders from living in proximity of all schools, daycares and county parks.During these visits it was discovered that Jeffrey P. Arnold, age 34, a Level Three Sex Offender, of 2143 State Route 5 & 20, Seneca Falls, New York was not living where he had previously reported. Arnold was arrested for Failing to Change his Address as a Sex Offender and Failing to report every 90 days. Level Three Sex Offenders living in Seneca County are required pursuant to NYS Law to report their address to the Seneca County Sheriff’s office every 90 days for verification. Arnold was arraigned in Town of Seneca Falls court where he was committed to the Seneca County Correctional facility in lieu of $2500.00 cash or $5000.00 secured bond. He is to re-appear in Town court on Feb. 1st 2011 to answer the charges.Sheriff’s Investigators report opening three other investigations as a result of these unannounced visits and more arrests are expected.Sheriff Jack Stenberg is committed to ensuring that all sex offenders residing in Seneca County adhere to all rules and regulations set forth in the NYS Sex Offender Registration Act and all local laws regulating sex offenders.
