Seneca County Sheriff Deputies responded to a barn fire on Wednesday evening at 3207 County Road 138, Ovid, New York. The property owners Richard & Kelly Zona noticed the barn on fire after hearing a loud “pop” come from the barn and contacted 911 to report the fire. The barn and attached shed was a total loss causing an estimated $60,000 to $70,000 in damages. The property was insured by the home owner and there was minimal damage sustained to the residence. It is suspected that an electrical problem was the cause for the fire. Ovid Fire department was on scene along with mutual aid from Lodi, Romulus, Interlaken and Trumansburg Fire Departments. South Seneca Ambulance was also on scene to provide medical support to the departments. There were no injuries reported from this fire.
