Coach Boeheim has called Sports Radio 1260 and told Brent Axe off the air that "no player is currently suspended from the team." Also, Syracuse Post Standard team beat writer Mike Waters has tweeted that "Dion Waiters has not been suspended, he is on the team". There is a rumor circulating this afternoon among local media and the Syracuse blogging community that freshman guard Dion Waiters has been kicked off the team and will not accompany Syracuse to their game in Milwaukee on Saturday against Marquette. Head coach Jim Boeheim appeared on the sports talk radio show, ‘On The Block’ with Brent Axe this afternoon and was asked if the Dion Waiters rumor was true. “When we make a move with one of our players, we make an official announcement,” was the Hall of Fame coach’s initial reponse. Boeheim replied that if the program has anything to say on any player it will come in the form of an official press release, in effect, neither confirming or denying the rumor. Brent Axe has previously reported that there was an instance in the first half of Tuesday’s loss to Seton Hall where Waiters was seen telling Coach Boeheim to “f***-off”. When asked about this incident Boeheim said that it never happened.
