Thursday, Scott S. Woodard was arraigned in the Cayuga County Court upon an indictment charging seven (7) counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree and one count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree. The indictment alleges that during the period of October 8 through November 9, 2010, Woodard possessed seven forged checks at bank branches located in Auburn and Port Byron, and cashed the checks for a total amount exceeding three thousand dollars. The alleged victim is an 87-year-old resident of Waterloo. The alleged victim had employed the defendant to perform household tasks. As has been previously reported in the media, Woodard was free on DOCS work release at the time of the alleged crimes. Information regarding Woodard’s previous convictions and incarceration is publicly available on the NYSDOCS website. Woodard is currently under indictment for related charges in Wayne County.Upon his arraignment, Woodard pled NOT GUILTY to the indictment. Like anyone accused of a crime, Woodard is presumed innocent until proven guilty.Scott S.
