American Red Cross Disaster Action Teams members were quickly on the scene to assist Jonathan and Heidi Egan and their five children when fire destroyed their home on January 7th. Red Cross was prepared to provide housing for the family but family and friends stepped forward with multiple offerings of temporary housing for the family. Red Cross provided food, clothing, including coats and boots, toiletries and stuffed animals for the children and continues to work with the family.You can bring donations to 3568 Lenox Rd in Geneva where the WNYR studio is located. Every one who comes in will be able to register for a chance to win a overnight in Toronto. Donations will be collected from 7am to 5pm at the station.If you cannot make it to WNYR the Seneca Falls Moms Meet up group is accepting donations for the family at the Seneca Falls site of First United Methodist Church at 2 Chapel Street in Seneca Falls. All household items are welcome and clothing is needed in the following sizes: Boys Size 16 pants and shirt size 18 Womens pants size 12 and size 6 petite Womens tops size medium Girls size 12 pants and tops Girl size 6 pants and tops Girls size 5T pants and tops Mens pants 36 x 34 Mens shirt size 18 collar and 34 sleeve or XL Shoes Mens size 9 and 11 ½ Womens shoe sizes 10, 9.5 Girls size 2Since the family does not have permanent housing at this point, gift cards for future purchase of groceries or clothing would be welcome and would allow the family to purchase items needed in a new home.The American Red Cross will continue to work with the Egan family until they feel they are on the road to recovery. All Red Cross assistance is provided based on verified needs and no payment is ever expected or asked.
