Sheriff David Gould reports that The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported home invasion robbery which occurred at 9:30am this date at 1840 VanLiew Rd. in the Town of Fleming. The victim, Jason Holtby age 36, reported that an unknown white male entered his home through an unlocked door at which time Holtby armed himself with a .22 caliber rifle. A struggle between the perpetrator and Holtby ensued at which time Holtby suffered a gunshot wound to his lower leg from his own weapon. The perpetrator then stole property from the victim and fled the residence on foot. Holtby reports firing two shots at the perpetrator while the perpetrator was still inside the home and at this time it is unknown whether or not either of the shots struck the perpetrator. A dark colored older model passenger car was seen travelling westbound on VanLiew Rd. at the time of the incident. The suspect is described as a white male, age 20-30, approximately 6 feet tall, skinny build, long scraggly light brown or dirty blond hair, long “ape hanger style” mustache, wearing a tan carhart style jacket, blue jeans, tan knit hat, knee high black rubber boots and black rubber gloves.Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detectives at (315) 253-1610
