Seneca Country Sheriff’s Police Beat for 12/13

12/13/2010 @ 0120 HRS – Seneca County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested David P. Mettler Jr., age 41, of 672 Route 5 in the Town of Waterloo for Criminal Mischief 3rd. The arrest stems from a domestic incident where it is alleged that Mettler broke the windshield of a vehicle located at the residence belonging to a female. Mettler fled the scene before Deputies arrived and was tracked down and taken into custody by the Sheriff’s K9 Unit. Mettler was arraigned in the Town of Waterloo Court and remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2500.00 cash or $5000.00 bond.12/12/2010 @ 1503 HRS – Seneca County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a personal injury motor vehicle accident on Grange Hall Road in the Town of Junius. A tractor trailer being operated by Jose A. Figueroa, 32, of 157 Cuyler Street, Apt. C, in Palmyra, New York, was southbound on Grange Hall Road when he lost control of the vehicle due to slippery road conditions. The tractor trailer left the west shoulder of the roadway and overturned in a field. Figueroa complained of head pain and was transported to Geneva General Hospital by North Seneca Ambulance. The Junius Fire Department also responded to the scene. The tractor trailer was towed from the scene.12/11/2010 @ 1215 HRS – Seneca County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Kurt K. Minges, age 44, 1954 West Blaine Road, Ovid, New York on State Route 414 in the Town of Ovid. Minges was charged with Driving While Intoxicated 1st Offense, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Blood Alcohol Content of .08% or more, Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign and Failure to Yield the Right of Way at a Stop Sign. Minges was arraigned in Town of Ovid Court and released to reappear on 01/03/2011.12/11/2010 @ 1449 HRS – Seneca County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a two car personal injury MVA that occurred on Rt 96 in the Town of Romulus. A van operated by Joshua A. Alfonso, 20, of 7626 Southtown Bldg Rd, Ovid was stopped in traffic waiting to turn into a Town of Romulus business when a sedan driven by Jamie L. Ragan, 27, of P.O. Box 303, Interlaken failed to react to Alfonsos vehicle and stuck the van from behind. Alfonso was uninjured; Ragan complained of back pain and was transported by South Seneca Ambulance to Cayuga Medical Center for treatment. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Ovid Fire Department responded and assisted at the scene. Ragan was issued a traffic ticket for Following too Close.
