Between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes, south to the Schuyler County and Tompkins County Line and north to Fayette are 175 families that will be blessed with a generous food box for their family dinner on Thanksgiving day! Included in the boxes are a frozen turkey, items to make pies, stuffing, potatoes, vegetables and various other food items for the holiday week. Thanks to generous donations from Boy Scout and Cub Scout Troop/Pack 78, church and community members and the South Seneca Middle School food drive, Nancy Caniff, Food Pantry director notes, ‘we try to give four days worth of food on a usual food pantry distribution day, but this holiday dinner box distribution reaches many more families in need.” The Ovid Ecumenical Food Pantry, housed at the Ovid Federated Church is a joint effort between volunteers from Ovid Federated Church and Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ovid.
