Sheriff David Gould reports that The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into a structure fire which was reported at 167 Willowbrook Dr. (Martins Point) on November 10th at approximately 1:18am. The residence is owned and was occupied at the time of the fire by Attorney Richard Gunger. Members of the Sheriff’s Office, New York State Fire Investigators and The Cayuga County Fire Investigation Team have determined the cause of the fire to be “Incendiary”. The investigation reveals that unknown person(s) intentionally set fire to the exterior of an attached garage. The garage sustained interior and exterior damage and the residence sustained smoke damage. Anyone who observed suspicious activity in the area that morning or has any information about this crime is asked to contact Detective Steve Smith at (315) 253-1610.
