Sheriff David Gould reports that The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a one car serious personal injury motor vehicle accident which occurred this date at approximately 4:35pm on Bird Cemetery Rd. in the Town of Locke. Preliminary investigation reveals that a 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier with four occupants was traveling northbound on Bird Cemetery Rd. and swerved to avoid another vehicle beginning to pull onto Bird Cemetery Rd. at the intersection of Catpath Rd. The Cavalier then went out of control and struck a utility pole at which time two persons were ejected. The victims consist of two males and two females, all in their late teens from the Locke, Groton and Lansing area. The two males were transported to Cortland Memorial Hospital. One is listed in stable condition and the other in serious condition and at present is being transferred to Upstate. Two females were transported to Upstate Medical Center. Both are listed in stable condition. The names of the victims are being withheld at this time. The following fire and EMS providers responded to the scene: Locke Fire Dept. Groton Fire Dept., Southern Cayuga Ambulance, Fleming Ambulance, Moravia Fire Dept., Four Town Ambulance, Rural Metro Ambulance and Cayuga County Emergency Management.The investigation is continuing.
