Cuomo Defeats Paladino in NY Governor Race

Andrew M. Cuomo is projected to have been elected the 56th governor of New York on Tuesday, a stunning comeback for one of the state’s legendary political families.Cuomo, the state’s Democratic attorney general, won a decisive victory over his Republican opponent, Carl P. Paladino, a Buffalo businessman whose strident and often belligerent rhetoric failed to gain traction among voters, exit polls showed.Unofficial results ware currently being tallied and will be posted here at FingerLakes1.com when they become available along with links to all 9 counties’ Board of Election websites where local results will be posted.Also, we are able to project that the state’s sitting senators, Kirsten E. Gillibrand and Charles E. Schumer, easily won re-election. Results have not yet been reported in the contests for attorney general and state comptroller.
