Locke man arrested for sexual abuse of toddler

On Wednesday morning at approximately 11:45 am, the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of the sexual abuse of a child at a private residence in the Town of Locke.The investigation revealed an allegation that 35 year old Robert Knapp of Old Genoa Road in Locke was having inappropriate sexual contact with a 3-year old female with whom he was acquainted.Members of the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and Criminal Investigations Division collaborated with other member agencies of the Cayuga County Child Advocacy Center to provide victim advocacy, medical treatment, and investigative support to the victim and her family. As a result of this collaboration the Cayuga Sheriff’s Office was able to substantiate the arrest of Robert Knapp for the below charges:- Rape in the First Degree (1 count, felony)- Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree (2 counts, felony)- Aggravated Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree (1 count, felony)- Sexual Abuse in the First Degree (1 count, felony)Robert Knapp was arraigned in the Town of Moravia Court by the Honorable June Shepardson and committed to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash or $200,000 secured bond.Anyone with any information regarding this investigation is asked to call Detective Sergeant Frederick Cornelius at 315.253.1610.
