VICTOR, N.Y., Sept. 29, 2010 — Through a partnership with the Development Authority of the North Country, Finger Lakes Technologies Group Inc. will offer its telecom services to Northern New York state customers. FLTG and the DANC announced today that they have signed a master service agreement that enables each entity to tap into each other’s fiber network. FLTG will be an additional carrier accessible to North Country customers through the DANC’s Open Access Telecom Network (OATN). The OATN is composed of approximately 750 miles of fiber optic cable serving Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties. FLTG’s fiber-optic network extends 400 miles from Rochester to Ithaca, serving the entire Finger Lakes region. “Through this agreement, FLTG is extending our customer reach through what is already the largest fiber network in the state,” said Paul H. Griswold, president and CEO, Finger Lakes Technologies Group. “By partnering with the DANC and linking to its network, we will offer our state-of-the-art voice, data and Internet services to customers across the North Country.” The OATN incorporates 14 central offices, which contain the electronic and optical equipment that power the network. A carrier-class telecommunications network, the OATN connects the North Country region to carrier co-location facilities in Syracuse. By the end of 2010, the network will extend to the Utica/Rome area.
