Seneca County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Brian J. Gary, age 46, of 7588 County Road 131, Ovid, New York on charges of Unlawful Imprisonment in the First Degree, a Class E Felony, and Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor. It is alleged that Gary attempted to harm himself with a knife and a female within the home tried to intervene. A struggle ensued and the female could not get the knife away from Gary. The female attempted to call 911 and Gary took the phone from her preventing her from calling for help. It is also alleged that the female tried to lock herself within a bedroom and Gary broke the doors down and again prevented the female from calling 911 for assistance. Gary was arraigned in front of Judge Ewing at the Ovid Town Court where he was committed to the Seneca County Jail in lieu of $3000 cash or $6000 secure bond. He is reappearing on 09/23/2010 at the Ovid Town Court for a Felony Hearing. Deputies were assisted at the scene by the New York State Police. An order of protection was issued for the female.
