Penn Yan Police Beat for 9/14

Chris W. Harris, 20, of 246 E. Elm St., Penn Yan was arrested on Sept. 12 for aggravated unlicensed operation (AUO), inadequate tail light and underage Drinking. A Yates County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped Harris on Washington St. in Dundee for having a broken tail lamp. He is alleged to have unlawfully possessed an alcoholic beverage with intent to consume under 21. His license was found to be revoked for a DWI conviction in 2008. Harris was arraigned in Benton Court and released on his own recognizance. He will answer charges in Dundee Court.Joel S. Andruski, 27, of 2101 Scandling Center, Geneva was charged on Sept. 13 with DWI, open container and failure to maintain lane. Deputies responded to a car in a ditch on Hammond Road in the Town of Potter. On arrival they found Andruski in his vehicle. Investigation revealed he had swerved to avoid an animal in the road and lost control of the vehicle. An odor of alcohol was detected and deputies placed him through field sobriety tests. He was transported to the Yates County Public Safety Building for a chemical test which revealed a BAC greater than .18 percent. Andruski was arraigned in Potter Court and remanded to YCJ in lieu of $500 cash/ $1000 bond.Christy Christensen, 25, of State Route 14A, Geneva, was charged on Sept. 6 with aggravated driving while intoxicated (DWI). Penn Yan Police stopped Christensen on Liberty Street in the village. She will answer charges in village court.Paula C. Rugg, 47, of 222 Keuka St., Penn Yan was arrested on Sept. 6 by Penn Yan Police after a complaint and investigation that she possessed and cashed a $19,000 check that had been illegally endorsed. She was arraigned for criminal possession of a forged instrument in village court and released on her own recognizance.Rodney J. Clark, 18, of 121 Garfield Ave., Penn Yan was arrested by Penn Yan Police on Sept. 6, after a complaint that he harassed and threatened a local 13-year-old girl in violation of a Penn Yan Village Court order of protection which ordered him to have no contact with her. He is being held pending arraignment.Jacob E. Gottshall, 21, of 109 East Main St., Penn Yan was arrested by Penn Yan Police for criminal contempt second degree after an investigation that he had been talking to a local 13-year-old girl in violation of a Penn Yan Village Court order of protection, which ordered him to have no contact with her. He was arraigned in village court and committed to the Yates County Jail on bail.Edelmiro Vega, 63, of 210 E. Elm St., was arrested by Penn Yan Police on Sept. 10 for criminal trespass second degree. Vega allegedly went into a village residence without permission from the owner. He will appear in Penn Yan Court.Dale R. Perry, 44, of Blodgett Rd., Gorham was charged by Penn Yan Police on Sept. 11 at 1:09 a.m. with DWI, refusal to take a breath screening test and failure to keep right. Perry was observed crossing the center line, then parked his vehicle on the wrong side of the street. He refused all field sobriety tests, but was found to be intoxicated. Perry was arrested and taken to the Yates County Public Safety building for a chemical test, which showed a BAC of .20 percent. He was issued tickets to appear in village court.Duan R. Sharp, 49. of 509 West 4th St., Williamsport, Pa. was arrested on Sept. 10 as a fugitive from justice. Yates County Deputies found Sharp hitchhiking on State Route 14 in the Town of Torrey on Friday afternoon. A computer check revealed she was wanted by the Washington State Department of Corrections, relating to a violation of conditions following a conviction there. Sharp was also found to be in possession of a marijuana pipe. Sharp was arraigned in Benton Court, where she pled guilty to the marijuana charge and was fined. She was remanded to the Yates County Jail to await extradition to the State of Washington.Kathryn J. Burk, 27, of 25 Rowley St., Apt. 1, Rochester was stopped on State Route 364 in the Town of Middlesex on Sept. 11. A DMV check by deputies revealed her license was suspended for failure to answer a summons. Burk was arrested and arraigned in Middlesex Court and released to answer charges at a later date.
