For the first time, New York Chiropractic College will hold joint commencement exercises for four of its graduate programs on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at 9:30 AM in the Athletic Center on the Seneca Falls campus. Receiving degrees will be 30 doctors of chiropractic, 11 masters of science in acupuncture or acupuncture and Oriental medicine, 34 masters of science in applied clinical nutrition and one master of science in applied clinical anatomy. Of those graduating on July 31, six will be receiving dual degrees in both chiropractic and nutrition. Three students have been chosen to address their classmates. Representing the doctor of chiropractic class will be Matthew Kreinheder; Emily Austin Odlum will speak for the acupuncture and Oriental medicine students, and Barbara Goshorn will address the applied clinical nutrition class. Keynote speaker for the event will be NYCC Board of Trustees member, Sylvie Heyman, DC, LAc. Dr. Heyman attended New York University Bellevue School of Nursing and received her diploma in nursing in 1959. She holds a bachelor of arts in psychology from Marymount Manhattan College (1974), a master of professional studies in health care administration from C.W. Post College (1979) and earned her doctor of chiropractic degree from NYCC in 1989. Dr. Heyman is also a licensed acupuncturist, receiving her certification in 1998 from The New York College of Holistic Health, Research and Education in Syosset, N.Y.
