07/09/10 @ 0436 HRS – Seneca County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a one car roll over accident that occurred on State Route 318 in the Town of Junius. A vehicle being operated by Jessica J. Crance, 21, of 441 High Street, Geneva, New York was west bound on State Rte 318 in the Town of Junius when a passenger, Joseph M. Pratt, 22, of 4129 Armington Road, Palmyra, New York climbed out of the passenger side window and onto the roof of the vehicle while it was in motion. Pratt attempted to climb back into the vehicle when Crance lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway on the north side striking a guardrail. Pratt was ejected from the vehicle and the vehicle rolled several times coming to rest on its roof trapping Crance inside. Crance was extricated by Junius Fire Dept and flown by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital where she was in stable condition. Pratt was uninjured and was treated and released at the scene by North Seneca and Finger lakes ambulance. Pratt was issued traffic tickets for Clinging to the Roof of a Moving Vehicle and No Seatbelt/Passenger. He is to answer the charges in the Town of Junius court on Aug. 10th, 2010. Crance will be issued a traffic ticket for permitting Clinging to a Roof of a Moving Vehicle and is to answer the charge in the Town of Junius court on Aug. 17th, 2010.
