Glove House 6th Annual BBQ in the Park

Glove House’s 6th Annual BBQ in the Park and 40th Anniversary Community Celebration featuring Mascot Mania was held on Thursday, May 27th in Wisner Park in downtown Elmira and was a HUGE success! Hill Top Inn served over 1,100 meals, Chemung County Executive Thomas Santulli presented Glove House with a proclamation for 40 years of service, eight local mascots participated in a first year event called Mascot Mania and tons of kids played free of charge on three bouncy inflatables. Mascot Mania was introduced by Nellie Jennings, the wife of Glove House founder, Chuck Jennings. The champion of the bouncy boxing tournament was Glove House’s The Whale (which was Chuck Jennings’s boxing nickname), second place went to Andy the Armadillo from Texas Roadhouse and third place was taken by Binghamton Tiger Cats Women’s Tackle Football Team. Mascot Mania will take place again next year and we welcome any additional mascots in the area to contact us about participating. Thanks to sponsor Five Star Bank, Mascot Mania supporter Dura-Bilt Precision Fabricating, event supporters F.M. Howell & Company, Brown and Brown Insurance, Geneva Club Beverage Co., Collins & Walton, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Chemung Supply Corp., Ingersoll Rand Industrial Technologies, Henderson’s Drug Store Inc. and everyone who enjoyed the event, we brought in over $27,000 in revenue and in-kind donations. All funds raised stay local to help the nearly 200 youth and their families we care for daily. If you did not give to the BBQ, donate now at www.glovehouse.org.
