The Geneva Public Library in association with the Geneva Theatre Guild will offer a summer series of introductory classes in Acting and Theatre for adults of all ages. “Acting at the Library” will focus on the examination of the elements of Acting and Theatre with concentration on improvisation and character development exercises. Classes will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 7:30PM throughout the month of June beginning June 9 and working through to June 30. A registration fee of $25 is required.The “Acting at the Library” sessions will be taught by Susan Turlish, current Geneva Theatre Guild board president. Ms Turlish was a part of the professional theatre scene in Philadelphia for over twenty five years and brings to this project a wealth of teaching experience. She served as Development and Program Director for the Society Hill Playhouse, Philadelphia’s oldest off-Broadway type theatre. She has developed and designed curriculum in Acting for all ages from young adults to seniors. Ms. Turlish was instrumental in the design and directed the Philadelphia Youth Theatre which worked inpartnership with the Society Hill Playhouse and the Philadelphia School District from 1970 to 1996.“Acting at the Library” is a collaborative project uniting the Library and the Theatre Guild. Enrollment for the summer series will be limited to twelve participants due to space considerations and pre-registration is suggested.
