TCAT Readying Passengers to Enjoy Ithaca Festival

TCAT is pleased to announce it is ready to transport passengers to enjoy Ithaca Festival 2010, Thursday, June 3 through Sunday, June 6.Thursday, June 3 – To clear the way for both “The Ithaca Festival Mile” running race, beginning 6 p.m., and the Festival parade, beginning at 6:30 p.m., Cayuga Street will be closed to traffic from approximately 5:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. • Route 13 will be detoured both directions starting with the 5:30 p.m. trip from the Shops at Ithaca Mall through 7:11 p.m. Inbound: the Route 13 will travel from the mall and proceed as normal to Stewart Park. It will then travel on NY State Route 13 to Third Street; left onto Cascadilla Street; and then right onto Albany Street. Outbound: from Seneca Street to the mall, the Route 13 will turn right onto Albany Street; left onto Cascadilla Street; right onto Third Street; then to Stewart Park via NY State Route 13; and back onto the normal route.• Route 17 will be detoured in both directions starting with the 5:15 p.m. trip from Seneca Street through 8 p.m. Outbound: from Seneca Street, the Route 17 will turn right onto Albany Street; left onto Cascadilla Street; right onto Third Street; right onto NY State Route 13; and proceed to the TCAT garage, Willow Avenue. Inbound: from the TCAT garage, the bus will turn right onto State Route 13; left onto Third Street; left onto Cascadilla Street; right onto Albany Street; and then left onto Green Street.Friday, June 4, and Saturday, June 5 – Festival events will be on the Ithaca Commons and TCAT will provide regular route service (with the Route 13 and 17 detours.)Sunday, June 6 – Festival events will be moved to Stewart Park. TCAT will provide extra service to accommodate the large number of festival attendees. In addition to regular Sunday service, TCAT will provide more Route 13 buses. Service will operate every 10 minutes beginning at 11:45 a.m. with the last trip departing from Stewart Park at 9 p.m.Additional service will be:• Green Street to and from Stewart Park; • Third Street (Aldi) to and from Stewart Park; • and Ithaca High School/Boynton Middle School to and from Stewart Park. Normal fares ($1.50 cash) will be charge on all regular route services. However, extra service on Sunday to and from Stewart Park will be only 50 cents.TCAT asks that passengers plan accordingly and to enjoy the festival!
