Business of the Month for Seneca County Chamber

What’s The Scoop in Seneca County? The Finger Lakes Region is certainly known for its food products. While locally-produced wines are gaining recognition around the world, fine artisan cheeses, cooking oils, and dozens of other products can be enjoyed from local producers. Cayuga Lake Creamery along Route 89 in Interlaken adds to that diversity with unique ice cream flavors and other sweet treats. The Seneca County Chamber of Commerce has selected the Cayuga Lake Creamery as the Business of the Month for May 2010.Jeff Kostick and Judy Gonroff are the owners of the Creamery. This family owned and operated ice cream restaurant is located along the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail on Route 89. In addition to their homemade ice cream, they offer homemade soy based and low calorie ice creams, creamy soft serve custard, sundaes, shakes, flurries, floats, banana splits, ice cream cakes and ice cream pizzas. The restaurant also offers fresh-brewed coffee and classic food favorites, making any time of the day a good time to visit. Jeff is originally from Brooklyn and his wife Judy are from Syracuse New York. Jeff and Judy and their two children used to love vacationing in the Finger Lakes area. So when Jeff was laid off after 30 years working in the computer industry with a large financial firm, they moved to the region. The couple researched opening and running a seasonal business of their own. Because they never could find a good ice cream shop when visiting the area, they decided that was the kind of business they would open and Route 89 in Interlaken would be the place. That new venture started over six years ago. The Cayuga Lake Creamery’s reputation has grown over the years with repeat customers visiting from all over the United States. They are well known for producing homemade premium ice creams, sorbets and wine sorbet products. They offer a wide variety of ice cream products for any type of occasion or event. Currently Cayuga Lake Creamery produces and sells wine ice cream and sorbet from over 14 different wineries. Jeff and Judy said that they are interested in expanding their wholesale distribution. They were proud and excited to announce that the Palmer Pharmacy, in downtown Ithaca, just opened an ice cream shop that features Cayuga Lake Creamery ice cream. If you are an ice cream connoisseur, Jeff & Judy invite you to visit the Cayuga Lake Creamery and sample some of their ice cream creations.
