Keuka College Student Named Employee of the Year

studentSyracuse Native Named 2010 Keuka College Student Employee of the YearSophomore unified early childhood/special education major Jennifer Graham received the 2010 Keuka College Student Employee of the Year award at an April 14 luncheon.A Web blogger/editor, Graham was one of nine work-study students nominated for the award. All work-study supervisors are invited to nominate their student employees, and there are a total of 400 Keuka College students who have campus jobs. Her nomination came from Webmaster Pete Bekisz, who described Graham as organized, enthusiastic and talented.“Jenni is a skilled writer, a formidable HTML programmer, and an outstanding video personality and editor,” added Bekisz. “She’s a proven self-starter who requires minimal direction and supervision—all I need to do is simply plant an idea in her head and she produces outstanding results. But the majority of the time the ideas are her own.”Continued Bekisz: “It’s not uncommon for Jenni to e-mail me when she’s not working to offer ideas for blog entries, copy to post, or her ideas to enhance and improve what we do. The entire time she’s worked in my office, I can’t recall a single time she’s either been late—she’s usually early, in fact—or that she’s missed a day. She comes to work each day with an unparalleled infectious enthusiasm for her job, her major, Keuka College, and life itself.”The decision was not an easy one, according to Head Athletic Trainer/Assistant Director of Athletics Jeff Bray, who served as a judge for the student competition.“Hopefully nominating them for this award tells our student employees just what they mean to us,” added Bray. “It’s incredibly difficult to put in the work-study commitment they do while doing their academic work. And every one of this year’s nominees also excels academically.”In addition to the award (a plaque), Graham’s name will be added to a plaque housed in the College’s Center for Experiential Learning that lists all of the winners of the award (she is the 16th).
