Body Recovered From Canandaigua Lake

Sheriff’s divers from Yates and Ontario County along with divers from Branchport-Keuka Park FD and Richmond F.D. totaling approx 20 divers along with state police side scan sonar continued the search and recovery efforts at 9 AM this morning. The Sheriff’s Office is also using a underwater sub-camera and the Middlesex Vol. Ambulance and the Richmond FD Ambulance is on standby at the scene. This is the second day of the search. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Dive Master is supervising all the dive teams. Ten divers executing a line search located a body in 18 feet of water approx 200 feet off shore just north of the Vine Valley Trailer Park Point (not far from where Sheriff says they launched) at 11-45AM. He has been identified as FLOYD “ZACK” FREY age 19 of 25 Douglas Drive in Canandaigua, NY. Diver bought the body to shore and Yates County Coroner Doug Marchionda Jr. has ordered the body to Soldiers and Sailors in Penn Yan, NY for an autopsy to determine cause of death. Search efforts continue for RANDALL “RJ” LIS age 20 of the same address. According to investigation both left the Lis vehicle parked on the point and took out a canoe in the early morning hours of Thursday April 15 and indications are they capsized and both drowned as the water temperature is approx. 39 degrees. Articles of clothing and the canoe were recovered yesterday in the 600-700 block of the lake ¼ mile North of Vine Valley. Search of the lake continues into Saturday evening for the second missing person.
