TCAT: More Route 14 and 20 Detour Updates

TCAT announced today that the Route 14 will continue to be detoured until Monday, April 19, and the Route 20 will be rerouted through early June as a result of water and sewer construction projects.Ithaca City’s Department of Water and Sewer has closed Hector Street (Route 79), from Floral Avenue West to Vinegar Hill, prompting the detours. Construction will be completed far enough on Hector Street for the Route 14 to return to normal on Monday, department officials said.Until then, Route 14 passengers are being picked up at the intersection of Elm and Chestnut Streets instead of the normal stop at Sunrise and Chestnut streets. The detoured Route 14 turns left from West State Street to Floral Avenue, then turns right on Elm Street.Meanwhile, Route 20 passengers are being picked up on Campbell Avenue instead of the Vinegar Hill bus stop. The detoured Route 20 outbound turns on Taughannock Boulevard, left on West Buffalo Street to Cliff Street, then left on Hopkins Place, left on Campbell Avenue and then right on Hector Street. The inbound trip simply reverses the detoured route. This detour is expected to last through June 4.TCAT is currently considering other detour options to ease congestion and will keep passengers informed of any changes.
