Ithaca City’s Department of Water and Sewer has closed Hector Street, from Floral Avenue West to Vinegar Hill, prompting detours for both the Route 14 and Route 20.The Route 14 detour now is expected to continue through at least Thursday, April 15, and the Route 20 through early June. The Route 14 outbound is turning left from West State Street to Floral Avenue, then turning right on Elm Street. Passengers are being picked up at the intersection of Elm and Chestnut Streets, instead of Sunrise and Chestnut streets.Meanwhile, the Route 20 outbound is turning on Taughannock Boulevard, left on West Buffalo Street to Cliff Street, then left on Hopkins Place, left on Campbell Avenue and then right on Hector Street. The inbound trip simply reverses the detoured route. The Vinegar Hill bus stop on Hector Street is not being served. Instead, those passengers are being picked up on Campbell Avenue. This detour is expected to last through June 4.TCAT will keep passengers updated and asks for patience during the construction period.
