Ithaca City’s Department of Water and Sewer will be closing Hector Street, from Floral Avenue West to Vinegar Hill, starting Monday, April 12, prompting two detours.The Route 14 outbound will be turning left from West State Street to Floral Avenue, then turning right on Elm Street. Passengers will need to be picked up at the intersection of Sunrise and Chestnut Streets, instead of Elm and Chestnut streets. This detour is expected for only Monday, April 12, and Tuesday, April 13.The Route 20 outbound will turn right on Taughannock Boulevard, left on West Buffalo Street to Cliff Street, then left on Hopkins Place, left on Campbell Avenue and then right on Hector Street. The inbound trip will simply reverse the detoured routing. The Vinegar Hill bus stop on Hector Street will not be served. Instead, those passengers will be picked up on Campbell Avenue. This detour is expected to last through June 4.TCAT asks passengers for their patience during the construction period.
