04/11/2010 – 9:41 p.m., Seneca County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a one car personal injury motor vehicle accident on Kings Corners Rd in the Town of Varick. Deputies report a vehicle operated by that Richard W. Mero, age 51, of 5170 Kings Corners Road was south bound on Kings Corners Road, when he apparently lost control of his vehicle, crossed over into the north bound lane, and left the west side of the roadway. Mero’s vehicle overturned and came to rest in a field on the west side of the road. Mero, the sole occupant of the vehicle was extracted by firefighters from the Fayette Fire Department. He was treated at the scene by South Seneca Ambulance and airlifted by Mercy Flight Central to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse with multiple injuries. Investigating Deputies continued their investigation at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York, and charged Mero with Felony Driving While Intoxicated and Failure to Keep Right. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, other charges may be forth coming
