Two bodies found in Yates County this weekend

The month of April starting out with two unidentified bodies in as many days is very rare for Yates county.Body found in Seneca Lake Friday April 2The adult male badly decomposed found in Seneca Lake near Perry Point is at the Monroe County Medical Examiners as well as theFoot and sneaker that the Geneva police found at the North end of the lake for comparison. The adult male’s skeletal structure was incomplete.The Lake does generally flow to the North and Geneva is approx 14 miles to the North of where the remains were found. Investigation continues. Body found Town of Benton Easter afternoon Sunday April 4.The body was discovered at 3-25pm by landowners walking their farm land about one mile North of Penn Yan near NYSEG property on Flat Street. The body is that of a female, however decomposition, & animal activity to the body prevents positive identification at this time. Sheriff’s Deputies, PY Police, and Coroner Marchionda was on scene. The area was treated as a crime scene. The body was transported by Townsend Wood Funeral Home to the Monroe County Medical Examiner to determine cause of death. There are indicators that suggest this could be Marilyn Whitaker the missing village of Penn Yan woman missing since January 22. Investigation continues as to this being a natural or suspicious death. Investigators will provide Medical Examiner dental records & other means for forensic identification comparison to the missing PY woman. Investigation continues.
