Alzhimers Education Provided in Spanish

On April 16th at 2:00pm, Leonor Buitrago of the Alzheimer’s Association will be presenting an educational session entitled: “Envejecimiento, Demencia y enfermedad de Alzheimer” (Aging, Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease). This program will take place at the Clinton Crossings Complex located at 919 Westfall Road, Brighton, NY, Building B Conference Room 30. The program will be presented in Spanish.Ms. Buitrago has a B.S in Economics and has worked in the field for several years in Colombia and Brazil. In the U.S, in addition to being a Spanish instructor and interpreter, she volunteers for Catholic Family Center in the Aging and Adult department. Last year, she joined the Alzheimer’s Association as a Contract Educator and is working on an initiative to educate and raise awareness in the Hispanic Community about Alzheimer’s disease and brain health. She has provided education sessions at local churches, community centers, senior centers, health centers and nursing homes.The Spanish speaking community is invited to learn more about this important health issue. This session is hosted by the Hispanic Special Emphasis Program committee of the Canandaigua VA Medical Center and Rochester VA Outpatient Clinic.
