TWO TOURISM EVENTS ANNOUNCED FOR SENECA COUNTY BUSINESSES & RESIDENTSAnnual Tourism Summit to Help Business Staff and Market, Job Fair to Help Residents Find EmploymentWaterloo NY, The Holiday Inn in Waterloo will play host to two major tourism events sponsored by the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce on April 13.The Annual Seneca County Tourism Summit is slated from 1pm – 4pm, with a Seneca County Travel & Tourism Job Fair to follow, from 4pm-7pm.The Tourism Summit is open to any Seneca County business, and is designed to help businesses make sure they are ready for the busy tourism season ahead with everything from brand, to marketing to staffing. The first session will be “Brand Building.” Attendees will learn what brand actually means and what goes into a successful brand. They’ll come away with a strong understanding of brand, and a list of things they can do to make sure their business is as consumer friendly as possible. The second session will be “Tourism Marketing.” Here attendees will have an opportunity to learn about co-op advertising, social media, and how they can plug into the County’s marketing efforts. The new 2010 County Guide will be presented, along with the new Seneca County Tourism Video. Copies of both will be available for businesses to take with them. There will also be a brief presentation on the County’s marketing budget and efforts, so county businesses know what is being done on their behalf. After lunch is served, the Working Together Employment Symposium will be given by Finger Lakes Works, Seneca Cayuga Industries and Experience Works. Representatives from all three agencies will give presentations on the employment resources they have available, and how local businesses can tap into these resources to staff up in time for busy season.Immediately following the Tourism Summit, the Job Fair will begin at 4pm-7pm. The Job Fair is open to job seekers from the County who are interested in working in tourism related businesses. Tourism Summit attendees will have the opportunity to set up a complimentary booth, where they can meet and interview potential employees. Finger Lakes Works, Seneca Cayuga Industries and Experience Works will not only bring pre-screened candidates for interviews, but will also screen new candidates during the Job Fair. The Tourism Summit costs $15 per person, and having a booth at the Job Fair is free to all attendees. Attendance for the 2010 Seneca County Tourism Summit is limited, and pre-registration is required by no later than Friday April 9th. Call the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce for more information and to make reservations at 315.568.2906. Or visit senecachamber.org for more information and a registration form.
