GENEVA – The Red Kettle Campaign in Geneva is about equal to last year at this time, raising $24,000 so far, but with just over a week to go before Christmas, there is a great need for bellringers to fill slots in the morning, afternoon and evening, reported Lts. Francisco and Wanda Rivera, directors. “With the tough economy and fewer bellringers, we need the community’s help to avoid falling behind during the final days of our kettle campaign,” noted Lt. Wanda Rivera. “We need to fill the kettle sites, and we need people to pick up Angel Tree tags to buy a gift for a needy child.” To find out more about the Angel Trees, or to volunteer to be a bellringer, contact the Geneva Salvation Army at 315-789-1055. Those interested in being a bellringer may also call the Red Kettle Center toll free at 1-877-764-7259, or go online to RedKettles.org. “We’re most thankful for our generous community,” Lieutenant Rivera added. “The people of the greater Geneva area make it possible for us to operate our emergency shelter and food pantry for people in crisis, plus provide vouchers for utilities, rent, prescriptions, clothing and furniture.”
