Hosmer Wines are Among 20 Enticing 2008 Whites

Ovid, N.Y Friday, November 27, 2009 -The prestigious Wine Spectator magazine is acknowledging the 2008 vintage in the Finger Lakes as one of the best yet! James Molesworth, Senior Editor of the publication says, “The bulk of these wines, both red and white, show pure, precise flavors and bright acidity.” Two Hosmer wines were among twenty Finger Lakes white wines to be evaluated recently online. Both the 2008 Vintner’s Reserve Riesling and the 2008 Chardonnay were rated an “86”. Ratings reflect how highly the WS regard the wines that are being tasted. An 85-89 rating translates to: “Very Good –a wine with special qualities, while an 80-84 rating translates to: “Good –a solid well-made wine”. The newly released Chardonnay is described by Molesworth as “round and friendly, with tasty yellow apple and spice notes backed by a hint of butter, and nicely done.” The 2008 Vintner’s Reserve Riesling is yet to be released. In the months ahead, look forward to the availability of this wine with “nice weight and focus.” Hosmer Winery has been producing wine grapes along Route 89 on the west shore of Cayuga Lake since 1972; established in 1985 it has been producing consistent award winning wines ever since.
