TCAT Announces Return to Normal Routes

Three TCAT bus routes will be back to normal this weekend as the four-month reconstruction of the 300 block of East State Street — between Aurora Street and the wrap-around street leading from Green Street onto Seneca Street — is finished.State Street will be open for traffic on Friday, Oct. 23, and starting Saturday, Oct. 24, TCAT’s Routes 11, 12 and 65 will be returning to normal service. In addition, the Aurora Street bus shelter will reopen on Saturday. “We appreciate our passengers’ patience and understanding over the past four months and are pleased to announce the return to the regular routes as well as the reopening of the Aurora Street shelter,” said Joe Turcotte, TCAT general manager.For new riders and as a reminder, the normal outbound routes are as follows:Route 11 Beginning on Green Street, in front of the library (moving up from the current stop in front of A-Plus): Turn left onto Seneca Way; left onto State Street; left onto Aurora Street, picking up passengers at the previously closed bus shelter; left onto Hudson Street and onward.Route 12Beginning on Green Street, in front of the Tompkins County Public Library (moving up from A-Plus stop): Turn left onto Seneca Way, left onto State Street; left onto Aurora Street, picking up at the reopened bus shelter, and onward.Route 65Beginning from Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine, traveling onto State Street heading towards the Aurora Street bus stop: Proceed onto State Street to Aurora Street, picking up at the shelter, and onward.TCAT, Inc (Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit, Inc.) is a not-for-profit corporation that provides public transportation for Tompkins County and portions of Tioga and Schuyler counties.
