Mynderse to hosts Coaches vs. Cancer soccer game

The Mynderse Academy Boys Varsity Soccer Program, under the leadership of Coach Al Loucks has organized a Coaches vs. Cancer Event. The boys from Mynderse Academy of Seneca Falls and Tully have been involved with several different fund raising activities over the past 5 weeks to raise money for two cancer related organizations. The first is the Jimmy V Foundation who funds research initiatives and the second is the Feel Your Boobies Foundation whose main objective is to raise breast health and breast cancer awareness to young women. The members of both teams were asked to honor a survivor or someone they know who lost their battle to cancer by raising funds in that person’s name. When the boys are announced that evening, the name of the person they chose to recognize will also be announced as an event t-shirt for the survivor/representative of the memory of a person is placed around the field. The boys will then play their game. Following the game the boys will present their honorees with the shirt. Many of the players have family members from out of town (as far away as Colorado ) flying in for the event. We are expecting 500+ spectators and are hoping for a wonderful coming together not just of two teams to play a game, but also of two communities working towards a common goal- to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. The game/ceremonies are taking place on Friday Oct 23rd. The opening ceremony is to take place approx 6:40, game at 7 and the closing ceremony where survivors will be presented with their shirts following the game at approx 8:45. Please contact Coach Al Loucks at (315)224-6665 or myself, Theresa Patchen at (315)651-2316 for any more information you may need. At this point, our numbers are showing we’ve raised over $5,000 and this is the total from the Seneca Falls boys only. We are waiting to hear the total from Tully.
