Fatal Accident at 2 pm today in Sennett – FingerLakes1.com Archive

Sheriff David Gould reports the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident which occurred on State Route 34 at Turnpike Road in the Town of Sennett at 2:00 pm today’s date.An Alnye Tractor Trailer traveling south on State Route 34, loaded with heating fuel, struck a 1993 Mercury Sable which pulled out from Turnpike Road traveling east. Both vehicles came to rest in the ditch on the east side of State Route 34 with the tractor trailer rolling onto its side. A crew from Alnye Trucking responded and off-loaded the fuel without any spillage.The 2009 Mack Alnye truck was operated by David J Crawford (52) of Moravia NY; he was transported to AMH with no reported injuries. The identification of the operator of the 1993 Mercury Sable is being withheld pending notification of family.In addition to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and Sennett Fire Department, members from the Cayuga County Emergency Management Office, Auburn Fire Department HAZMAT, Auburn Police Department, and New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement assisted on scene.The Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation into the cause of the accident.Anyone with information, please contact Detective Brian Schenck at 315 253-3545.
