After arrest in SF, police search canal for handgun

On September 16th, 2009 at approx. 2:30 PM Seneca Falls Police arrested Joshua M. Jalovick, age 17 from 25 Peterman Road Apt. B-7 Seneca Falls for two counts of Menacing in the second degree and one count of Endangering The Welfare of a Child. The arrest stems from an incident that occurred in front of a residence on Spring Street where Jalovick confronted subjects at this residence while displaying a handgun in his waist band. One of the subjects that was outside of the residence during the incident was a 12 year old male. Jalovick then fled the scene and seconds later was located by a Seneca Falls Police Officer on the Ovid Street Bridge. Jalovick was then detained by Police and searched where no weapon was found. After obtaining Depositions from victims and witnesses Jalovick was charged with the above charges. Seneca Falls Police were assisted at the scene by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police. The DEC brought a K-9 specialized in locating weapons to search the ground area at the scene and was unable to locate any weapons. On September 17th, 2009 the Seneca Falls Police was assisted by the New York State Police Dive Team Unit and Seneca Falls Fire Department where a black pellet pistol was recovered in the canal on the south east side of the Ovid Street Bridge just feet away from where Jalovick was eventually apprehended by the Seneca Falls Police. The gun was processed into evidence and more charges are pending.
